two college students to 'bike for babies' over spring break
Two young men who are students at the University of Illinois and the University of Wisconsin will reprise their biking expedition again this year to ride more than 600 miles to raise money and awareness for pro-life issues.
One of the college students, Mike Schaefer, belongs to St. Joseph Parish in Freeburg.
Last year, the biking duo raised $14,000 for the cause, and they hope to raise $25,000 this year on their trek. They will split the proceeds from the bike ride between the Champaign Pregnancy Resource center and Students for Life of Illinois.
The resource center provides adoption services in the Champaign community and at other affiliated centers. The students' organization is a statewide collegiate pro-life organization that help to train pro-life students in leadership and activism to transform the culture of college campuses and beyond.
Mike's team will leave Cairo March 20th. His team will ride to Freeburg, Effingham, Charleston and on to Champaign, Bloomington, Peoria and end in Aurora, all in Illinois, where his teammate, Jimmy will pick up the ride.
