Students pray a ‘Living Rosary’ at Sister Thea Bowman School

Students at Sister Thea Bowman Catholic School in East St. Louis stood in the warm sun Oct. 21 to pray a living rosary, led by Maddie Dowell, the Grand Lady of the Ladies of St. Peter Claver who went to the school to pray with the students.

Principal, Sister Janet McCann, ASC, said the students were learning about the rosary and since October is traditionally “rosary month,” it was good to take the opportunity to pray with the ladies.

The large rosary the students used was one Sister Janet borrowed from the Knights of Columbus at Immaculate Conception Parish in Columbia.

She said she was grateful she could borrow an oversized rosary for the event.
