Ondessonk: no camp on earth like it

For almost 50 years, youngsters have been making a summer visit to the Shawnee National Forest, specifically to Camp Ondessonk.
While the campers go to camp for fun, they learn many life skills without realizing it and meet people who will be their friends for life. For many, this isn’t their first year at camp.
First-timers are generally young people who are joining a friend to see what it’s all about because people who go to camp “just can’t stop talking about it” to others.
Often, campers become staff in later years. It’s just the way it works.
Too old for camp or for staff? No one is too old to volunteer, and many people around the diocese help keep costs down by volunteering their services to camp to make repairs during off season.
