His Excellency, The Most Rev. Edward K. Braxton, Ph.D., S.T.D., Bishop of Belleville, is pleased to announce the following clergy appointments, effective Tuesday, July 13, 2010, unless otherwise indicated.

Retirement (canon 538§1)
The Rev. Dennis F. Voss, until now, Pastor of St. Liborius Parish in St. Libory and St. Anthony Parish in Lively Grove, is granted retirement status after forty-six years of service to the Diocese since his ordination on May 16, 1964.

Pastors (canon 522)
(Six Year Terms)
The Rev. John C. Iffert, until now, Administrator of St. Mary Parish in Mt. Vernon, St. Theresa Parish in Salem, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Kinmundy, is appointed Pastor of St. Mary Parish in Mt. Vernon.

The Rev. Stanley J. Konieczny, until now, Parochial Vicar of SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Waterloo and Immaculate Conception Parish in Madonnaville, is appointed Pastor of St. Liborius Parish in St. Libory and St. Anthony Parish in Lively Grove.

The Rev. Mark D. Stec, until now, Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Equality, St. Patrick Parish in Pond Settlement, St. Joseph Parish in Ridgway, and Immaculate Conception (St. Mary) Parish in Shawneetown, is appointed Pastor of Holy Cross Parish in Wendelin and St. Joseph Parish in Stringtown.

The Rev. Robert J. Zwilling, until now, Administrator of St. Michael Parish in Radom and St. Barbara Parish in Scheller, is appointed Pastor of St. Theresa of Avila Parish in Salem and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Kinmundy. (N.B. The effective date of this appointment is Aug. 1, 2010). A priest for St. Michael Parish in Radom and St. Barbara Parish in Scheller will be announced at a later date.

Parochial Administrators (canon 539)
The Rev. Steven L. Beatty, until now, Parochial Vicar of the Cathedral of St. Peter Parish in Belleville, is appointed Administrator of St. Joseph Parish in Equality, St. Patrick Parish in Pond Settlement, St. Joseph Parish in Ridgway and Immaculate Conception (St. Mary) Parish in Shawneetown, and as Chaplain at Camp Ondessonk.

The Rev. Nicholas J. Junker, until now, Parochial Vicar of St. Teresa Parish in Belleville is appointed Administrator of Sacred Heart Parish in Du Quoin. Special appreciation is expressed to the Rev. James R. Van Oss, who, though in retirement, has provided for the pastoral care of Sacred Heart Parish during these months since the sudden death of the Rev. H. Thomas Stout on Sept. 18, 2009.

The Rev. Justin Olisaemeka, until now, Administrator of St. Mary Parish, Centralia, is also appointed Administrator of St. Lawrence Parish in Sandoval, while continuing his service at St. Mary Parish. (The effective date of this appointment is Aug. 1, 2010).

The Rev. Benjamin J. Stern, until now, Parochial Vicar of St. Dominic Parish in Breese, is appointed Administrator of St. Boniface Parish in Evansville.

Sacramental Minister (canon 517§2)
The Rev. Von C. Deeke, Parochial Vicar at St. Clare of Assisi Parish in O’Fallon and Diocesan Director of Seminarians and International Priests, is appointed to continue providing Sacramental Ministry at St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish in Hecker.

The Rev. Rafi Kuttukaran, until now, Administrator of St. Boniface Parish, Evansville, is appointed temporary Sacramental Minister at St. Andrew Parish in Christopher and St. Mary Parish in Sesser.

Parochial Vicars (Associate Pastors) (canon 547)
The Rev. Abraham O. Adejoh, newly ordained, is appointed Parochial Vicar of Holy Childhood Parish in Mascoutah.
The Rev. Dale A. Maxfield, newly ordained, is appointed Parochial Vicar of SS. Peter and Paul Parish in Waterloo and Immaculate Conception Parish in Madonnaville.

The Rev. Joseph O. Oganda, newly ordained, is appointed Parochial Vicar of the Cathedral of St. Peter Parish in Belleville.

The Rev. Sean M. Palas, newly ordained, is appointed Parochial Vicar of the parishes of the West Belleville cluster (Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, St. Henry Parish, and Blessed Sacrament Parish) and to Pastoral Ministry at Althoff Catholic High School with residence at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Belleville.

Transitional Deacon
The Rev. Mr. Anthony O. Onyango, newly ordained transitional deacon, is appointed to assist the Pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Carbondale and to assist at the John Henry Cardinal Newman Catholic Student Center at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Parish Life Coordinators (canon 517§2)
Deacon Omer E. DuBois, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Mary of Divine Maternity Parish in Ellis Grove, is reappointed to that same ministry for a period of one year.

Deacon Robert Lippert, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Anthony Parish in Beckemeyer and St. Augustine Parish in Breese is reappointed to that same ministry for a period of one year.

Sister Carol Karnitsky, SCCM, Parish Life Coordinator at Holy Spirit Parish in Carterville, is reappointed to that same ministry for a period of one year.

Sister Grace Marie Mueller, SSND, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Luke Parish in Belleville, is reappointed to that same ministry for a period of one year.

Mrs. Brenda A. Pehle, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Joseph Parish in Lebanon is reappointed to that same ministry for a period of one year.

Sister Diane M. Turner, SSND, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Felicitas Parish in Beaver Prairie, is reappointed to that same ministry for a period of one year.

Sister Catherine Wellinghoff, ASC, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Paul Parish in Johnston City, is reappointed to that same ministry for a period of one year.

Appointments Concluded (canon 517§2)
Mr. Darren Eultgen, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Theresa of Avila Parish in Salem and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Kinmundy and Mrs. Cindy Eultgen, Parish Life Coordinator at St. Lawrence Parish in Sandoval, have informed the Diocese of their decision not to renew their contracts. The effective date of their departure is July 31, 2010. The Diocese is grateful to them for their contributions to the work of the Church in southern Illinois.
