new musical group to begin in diocese: welcome to the schola

Everyone is invited to join a new musical venture in the Diocese of Belleville — the Belleville Diocesan Schola.
The purpose of the Schola is to provide sacred choral music for diocesan events at the cathedral in Belleville and elsewhere.

All singers in the diocese with previous choral experience who can also read music are welcome to join.
The level of the music will be moderate to difficult; in order to keep rehearsal time to a minimum, it will be necessary for the singers to read music.

Richard W. Thompson, choir director and organist at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Belleville will be the conductor and music director of the chorale.

At this time, a choir is being formed for the ordination to the priesthood of Nicholas Junker which will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. May 10 at the Cathedral of St. Peter. Four rehearsals are scheduled: April 17, 24, May 1 and 8, from 7:30-9 p.m., at St. Teresa Church, 1201 Lebanon Ave. in Belleville.
