Poor Clares Welcome New Sister

Family and friends filled the Poor Clare Monastery chapel in Belleville Nov. 23 to witness the solemn profession of Sister John Paul Marie of the Incarnate Word. Bishop Wilton Gregory officiated at the ceremony and was principal celebrant of a liturgy during which Sister John Paul Marie professed her solemn vows.

Sister John Paul Marie, daughter of Francis and Jane Vogel, is a native of Lafayette, Ind. She earned a degree in education from Purdue University and taught in Catholic schools in her diocese before entering the Poor Clares. Active in her home parish, she was a religious education teacher and eucharistic minister.
