Youth Respond to Message at WYD

Hundreds of young people from the Belleville diocese and surrounding areas in Illinois and Missouri brought their faith and their enthusiasm to World Youth Day weekend Oct. 11-12 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.

Saturday was reserved for junior high students and Sunday for those in senior high.

Steve Angrisano, nationally known youth speaker, singer and songwriter talked about his work at a parish near Denver, Colo., when two boys shot 12 students and a teacher at Columbine High School.

“Four of the 12 victims were from St. Francis Cabrini, our parish,” Angrisano said. While he now lives in Birmingham, Ala., the experiences of dealing with young people who lived and those who died, remains fresh in his mind.
