Governor's rep visits Catholic Charities programs

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s deputy chief of staff for social services paid a visit to the Belleville diocese to talk with members of Catholic Charities and see first-hand some of the local projects.

Louanner Peters, trained as a social worker, was impressed with what she saw at the Family Center’s tutoring program in East St. Louis and the Don Bosco Children’s Center in Belleville.

A number of Catholic agencies within the diocese receive state funding to assist with the care of the poor, including at-risk children who are housed at Don Bosco.
