Diaconate: Diocese to begin process
for new class of deacons

The Belleville diocese is beginning the process of calling forth men of the diocese for a new diaconate class, the fifth such group in its history.

Two informational meetings will be held — Oct. 19 at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in Belleville and Nov. 23 at Corpus Christi Parish in Shiloh. Both meetings from 2-3:30 p.m. are required of anyone who is interested in enrolling in the program.

“Deacons are ordained for service and to assist the bishop in ministry, especially in the corporal works of mercy,” Father Gene Wojcik, vocations and diaconate formation director, said.
