new ondessonk director has roots at camp

Anyone who has spent time at Camp Ondessonk in the Diocese of Belleville seems to have a yearning to return.
The camp’s new executive director, Dan King, has roots at Camp Ondessonk that led him to other parts of the country as director of various camp programs, and eventually, brought him, his wife, Suzy, and the couple’s three children back to southern Illinois and Camp Ondessonk.
Previously the assistant executive director, he was recently appointed to the top job at camp.
With a wide range of experiences at Ondessonk as camper, staff person, even dish washer, Dan broadened his experiences and his skills at camps in Colorado, Missouri and Oklahoma before returning home.
Dan said he believes Camp Ondessonk is among the best and most beautiful summer camps in the United States and “feels honored to serve the Diocese of Belleville and the Ondessonk community in this capacity.”
Dan and his family live at the camp.
